"Most Christians worship freely and openly. However, believers from other denominations are sometimes pressured by militants among the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, and Christian converts from Islam face violence and even death threats in Muslim-majority areas.
Bibles are printed, sold and distributed in Ethiopia with no restrictions. However, in many rural areas believers can be severely persecuted for owning a Bible.' Via: Voice of the Martyrs
Way to pray: Pray that Christians in Ethiopia will stand firm and proclaim the gospel.
Ed and Sylvia Christy have been working to plant churches in the Bordeaux region of France since 1990 with Baptist Mid-Missions. They have found many opportunities as well as faced great challenges in establishing a strong community of Christ-followers. Their first church plant now has its own French pastor and building. Currently, the Christys are launching a new church in St. Medard-en-Jalles. Ed and Sylvia have two grown children: Grant, who is an accountant in Paris, and Jana, who lives with her husband and children in France.
Way to Pray: Kaylyn will be traveling with a team to Thailand later this summer. Please pray for the unity of this team and for the interactions that they will be having with the Thai people.
This Sunday, you will hear us talking about the Rice Bowls Initiative! Rice Bowls is a local ministry that partners with children's homes around the world to cover 100% of their delicious, locally sourced meals. They do this by distributing their rice bowl coin banks to individuals and churches who help fill up each coin bank and return them!
Beginning on Sunday, FG Kids, in partnership with Missional Impact and Rice Bowls, will be distributing rice bowls to kids in elementary and up in their classrooms on Sunday morning. Families can also stop by either the old Faith@Home location in the west end of the commons at HWY 14 or at the table in the commons at Adams Mill.
Then, beginning in July, we will collect the filled Rice Bowls all month at the same locations (Faith@Home Center at HWY 14 and table at Adams Mill). Filled a rice bowl and would like to fill another? No problem! Just stop by one of the pick-up/drop-off locations, and you can get a new one to fill!
