PRAYER REQUESTS

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Prayer Team: If you have a heart for supporting and praying with those who are hurting, we invite you to join our Sunday morning Prayer Teams! To ensure we handle sensitive prayer requests with the utmost care, we ask that all new team members go through the process of becoming Fellowship Greenville Members. If you're interested in serving in this vital ministry, please reach out to Rebecca at rcooke@fellowshipgreenville.org.

  • Please pray for the following people who have recently had family members pass away:
Mary Funk's mother passed away on Apr. 6th
John Bohr's mother passed away Apr. 4th
                Jeannie McGriff's brother-in-law passed away Apr. 1st.
Steve Pendergraft's father passed away Mar. 28th.
Althea Opper's father passed away at the end of March.
  • Jacquelyn Enloe asks for prayer for clarity and direction, and that God would give her understanding and Peace.
  • Mike Brogden asks for prayer for his wife and him.  He says that life has hit them hard, and they are dealing with personal issues.
  • Chip Walpole, Jr. says, "Praying that as a community bonded as servants to our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that we may all be devoted in prayer with and for each other and that Holy Spirit would come upon this fellowship with power and healing. May we abide in Him and He in us with love."
  • Sharon Keller, asks for prayer as she deals with her diagnosis of PSP, a rare early onset of Parkinson's Plus disease that has to do with balance, eye sight, and a rare brain disease.
  • Kimberly Thomas says, "Thank you for your prayers for our family! Our time together was filled with love and grace, and God gave me energy and pain free days! It was truly miraculous!"
  • Pray for the many visitors that joined us over Easter weekend!
GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: NIGER

"Many Christians have been displaced in Niger, including farmers from rural areas who need to reach their croplands to harvest their crops but struggle to do so because of ongoing threats. 'Christians in Niger face danger and challenges,' said a front-line worker. In western Niger, the violent JNIM Islamist group is very active. Its name is an acronym for the Arabic phrase “The Group Supporting Islam and Muslims” and is an offshoot of al-Qaida. JNIM fighters have been attacking Christians in western Niger and also in parts of Mali and Burkina Faso since the group formed in 2017. 'Christians are forced to leave their villages and all their belongings to save their lives from the death threats,' the front-line worker said. 'Most of the Christian population has been displaced.' Via: Voice of the Martyrs

Way to pray: Pray for Christians displaced by Islamist attacks, both Nigeriens and those who have fled to Niger as refugees. Pray for the encouragement and renewed strength of churches that have been displaced by extremist violence.

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: WHEELER

Miriam Wheeler, MD, joined Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE) in 1990 and as of 2019, is currently serving as ABWE's Medical Director of International Missionary Healthcare. For the past 20 years, Miriam served in Odessa, Ukraine where she cared for the medical needs in the small villages surrounding Odessa and Nikolaev and also shared her faith in Christ with people whose spiritual needs are great. Miriam's new role will allow her to serve with a more global impact from right here in the states. Miriam will continue to spend about 2-3 months in Ukraine every year and a portion of her support funds the medical ministry in Ukraine each month.

Miriam graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1985 and completed her residency in Greenville, during which time she was a member of Fellowship Greenville. After joining ABWE, she served in a hospital ministry in Togo, West Africa until the Lord moved her to Ukraine in 1998.

Way to Pray:  Wisdom for giving medical advice to ABWE missionaries around the world and counsel to ABWE administrators concerning healthcare needs. ABWE has 1000 missionaries in over 60 countries. Miriam needs an Associate Medical Director to help carry the load of her work. Please pray God brings along the right person.

OPPORTUNITY: BASIC NEEDS DRIVE: PIEDMONT WOMENS CENTER

LEAD Collective exists to equip and elevate leaders in the way of Jesus, from historically under-resourced communities in Greenville, SC. They do this through three different programs--Eleos, an afterschool program geared towards youth in Nicholtown, GOAT, an outdoor adventure program geared toward youth in under-resourced areas, and Reach, a second-chance diversion program for youth in the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).

On Sundays, April 19 and 26, we have the opportunity to bless these programs and these students by donating the following to LEAD Collective:

  • Pre-packaged snacks
  • Packaged juices like Capri Sun
  • Peanut butter, jelly

These items can be dropped off in the bins located at both our HWY 14 and Adam's Mill campuses.

MISSIONARY AND PARTNER UPDATES

  • Pray for the people of the Middle East right now who are experiencing the fear and uncertainty of war. Our partner Horizons International in Lebanon has sent out an update which you can see here
  • The Mungs (Myanmar) and those around them continue to face difficulties in both ministry and daily life as the government continues to enforce new and tighter restrictions. Please pray for them and their ministry as they navigate this.
  • Please pray for Kaylyn Brown (Athletes in Action) as she and her team prepare for mission trips to Thailand this summer!
  • Iglesia Alumbra, a partner church in Barranquilla, Colombia, asks us to help them pray for a larger place to worship. Please also pray for partners in Domzale, Slovenia, Médard-en-Jalles, France and Potsdam, Germany as they are also feeling the limitations of space!
OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: PIEDMONT WOMENS CENTER 5K

Piedmont Women's Center's annual Born to Run 5k is coming up! It will be held at Bob Jones University on May 16th starting at 8am. This is a great opportunity to get outside and support the work of PWC. Fellowship Greenville has 10 free spots that people in our congregation can access by signing up here and using the code: FG10.

If running in the 5k isn't your thing, they are in need of several volunteers! An event like this can't happen without their help! If you are interested in volunteering, please visit this page.
