Revival and rapid church growth have characterized China’s churches since the 1990s. About 130 million Chinese are Christians, most of whom worship within the house church movement. Millions of others worship with the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), which, as the only legal church, is controlled by the Communist government. Despite continuous pressure and oppression from the Communist government, house church leaders refuse to compromise the gospel by joining government-controlled churches. Because of decades of government oppression, many Chinese Christians do not have their own Bible or access to discipleship literature. Via: Voice of the Martyrs
Way to pray: Pray for house churches that are pressured and harassed by the Communist government. Pray that Chinese Christians will have access to Bibles despite restrictions and other obstacles.
When she was younger, Pao's grandmother first took her to church and ever since then, she has been very involved in the body of Christ. When she was 19 years old, Pao began volunteering as a translator for e3 Partners Ministry. It was through one of these trips that she truly came to understand her need for a personal relationship with God. After that, she continued translating for different missionary campaigns around Colombia. It was through these e3 trips that she met FG elder Craig O'Neal, who then later connected Pao to FG.
Pao has a background in Digital Marketing and saw firsthand the benefits of this, but also the dangers. God placed it in her heart to speak to teenagers about the danger of social media for their identity. Depression and suicide among young people have increased since they all had access to screens, and she knew that Christ was their only true salvation. She started a ministry where she works with adolescents and their parents to explain the dangers of social media and she also disciples them in the knowledge that God is their only true salvation. Pao is also on staff at her church, Iglesia Alumbra, and works with the teens there, helps with counseling needs, and more. She is a huge asset to their team there!
Way to Pray: Please pray for Pao's mother to come to a true understanding of who Jesus is and what He's done for her. Please pray as Pao interacts with teenagers around Colombia that they will have their eyes opened to Jesus's love for them.
This spring, Fellowship Greenville is hosting Lifeline's Families Count (faith-based) parenting classes. These are classes that have been approved by DSS and the court system for parents who have lost custody of their children. Often, taking parenting classes is a requirement of the court for parents to regain custody of their children.
We have two big needs that people can volunteer to serve in.
- The first is volunteering to be a mentor for one of the individuals who will be taking the parenting class.
- The second is volunteering to make a meal for 20-25 people the night of one of these classes (meals will need to be dropped off at Fellowship Greenville in Room 200 at 5:15 each evening).
You can register here.
The dates of the class are as follows: March 24, March 31, April 7, April 14, April 21, April 28, and May 5.
Lt. Matthew Clark
