Today, look at the genealogy found in Ruth 4:18-22. Normally, you might skip over verses like this because the names can be difficult to pronounce but these verses are significant to the gospel. In this genealogy we see that Ruth’s son, Obed, was the grandfather of King David and from King David’s family came Jesus!
While we don’t see God mentioned a lot in this book, through this genealogy we can see that God was there all along in the decisions Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz were making. The Bible Project makes this point so beautifully, “God weaves together the faithful obedience of his people to bring about his redemptive purposes in the world.” The book of Ruth should make us consider how God might be working in the day-to-day details of our lives to bring Him glory! Parents if you have a story of how God used something ordinary in your lives to bring Him glory, now would be a great time to share.
