SESSION SUMMARY

God takes the initiative to involve His people with Him in His work. He does this on His timetable, not ours. He's the One who is already at work in our world. When He opens your spiritual eyes to see where He is at work, that revelation is your invitation to join Him. You will know where He is working when you see Him doing things only God can do. When God reveals His work to you, that is the time He wants you to begin adjusting to Him and His activity. What God purposes, He guarantees to complete.

God has always spoken to His people. Today He communicates by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will use the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and other believers to speak to you. The method, however, is not the key to knowing God's voice. You learn to know the voice of God through an intimate love relationship. God may choose to speak in ways that are unique to you. But be assured that He will be able to convince you that you have heard a word from Him.

When God speaks to you, He will do so with a purpose. The time God speaks is the occasion for you to begin adjusting your life and orienting your thinking to Him. He will work to develop your character for the assignment He has in mind. Let God take all the time He wants to prepare you.

In Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ; certain that God is appealing through us. (2 Corinthians 5:19-20)

• What stood out or impacted you from the chapters?
• Are there times when God showed you His activity, and you missed it? If so, why do you think that happened?
• Do you presently see God at work around your life? Are you willing to respond to His invitation to adjust your life and join Him? If not, what is holding you back?
• What are some ways God has spoken to you? How did you know it was God?
• How might God be building your character and trust in Him right now in preparation for a new assignment?
• Have you been willing to accept small assignments from God? How do you think God would evaluate your willingness to be faithful in a little?
• Do you need God to guide you specifically in a situation in your life? If so, how might you prepare to receive the next guidance He gives you?

EXPERIENCING GOD TODAY

Reflect on what is happening around you. Try to identify things God is presently initiating in your life. Pray over each one, and allow the Holy Spirit to give you further clarification regarding what He intends to do in and through your life.

Take some time with God in prayer and think about experiences when you clearly knew God was speaking to you. Ask God to help you recognize His voice. If you do not currently keep a spiritual journal, you may want to begin recording the things God has said to you in the past and what He is saying to you now. Anything Almighty God says to you is important enough to write down!
