Read James 1:17-18

The Word gives us the capacity to hear.

James is showing us something profound about God. He is the Father of lights (There is no turning with Him. There is no shadow or inconsistency with Him. He doesn’t change). Our Father is a good, good Father, who gives good gifts, who gives perfect gifts (In fact, every good and every perfect gift comes from Him). But, how do we know that He is good?

This is what God does. This is His work. It’s of His own desire. It’s what He initiates. It’s what He accomplishes. This is so significant… Before we can do anything with this Word, the Living Word must do something IN US. The ‘Word of Truth’ must breathe life into you. True freedom isn’t doing what you want when you want, how you want. True freedom is being and doing what you were created to be and do.

Hearing the word leads us to do the Word.
