Years ago, our marriage wasn’t in a great spot and we were both very aware. We were seeing individual counselors and a marriage counselor, and while we did experience improvement, it was recommended that we look into a program called re|engage as our next step. We googled “re|engage in Greenville SC,” and Fellowship Greenville resulted. After finding the class, we signed up to start the next month. In our minds, we thought the Lord would just use this program to save our marriage, but we had no idea what all He had in store.

While attending, Scripture just came alive in the people surrounding us. The way they loved us, cared for us, prayed for us, showed intentionality, shared with us, and trusted us to do life together was refreshing and uplifting as we worked through some of our darkest days. The transparency and authenticity radically differed from what we had been used to in a church setting. Because we were so moved and changed by the community within re|engage, we decided to visit Fellowship Greenville on a Sunday and found that this is a way of life for this community, not just within re|engage.

We knew God was leading us here. God used this engaging marriage ministry to show us the true depths of our brokenness, not only in our marriage but also individually, which served as a reminder of our ultimate need for Christ. Re|engage provided a safe space for us to heal with people who have become some of our best friends. We found our community group through this impactful ministry, and every week, we are committed to a biblical community that continues to push us to walk with the Lord daily and grow in our faith. Working through re|engage has proved to be a pivotal point not only in our marriage but also in our personal walks with God. We’ve also found great community through leading groups within re|engage. It has been so rewarding to see God work in the lives of couples whose marriages are in a similar state to what ours was when we first joined. Psalm 34:19 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” We are so grateful for how the Lord has rescued our broken hearts and our crushed spirits through this marriage enrichment class!
