PRAYER REQUESTS

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Prayer Team is actively looking for individuals who would like to minister to our congregation by meeting with those who need prayer following the Sunday services. Volunteers are on duty once a month for one service.  At this time, we particularly have a need for the following weeks/services: 1st Sunday/2nd Service, and 3rd Sunday/2nd Service.  If you are interested in serving with the Prayer Team, please contact Rebecca Cooke at 864-385-3368 or rcooke@fellowshipgreenville.org.

  • Please pray for the family of Melissa Jones.  Her brother recently passed away unexpectedly.
  • Please pray for Ray Gallucci.  His wife Emily passed away on Mar. 14th.
  • Please pray for Susan Stillwagon and her family.  Susan's twin sister, Becky, passed away March 3rd after a long battle with cancer.
  • Linda Lowe asks for prayer.  She is fighting Stage 4 cancer that has spread to her bones.  She also has a broken spine.
  • Tracy Koehler request prayer.  She is recently divorced and prays that God will give her His guidance as she navigates this new chapter in her life.
  • Jo Graham says, "Please pray for positive news from a medical test being done this week.  Thank you so much and God bless you prayer warriors."
  • Shannon Ellis requests prayer for a friend's one-month-old daughter who has a mass behind her eye.  Please pray that it is benign and any surgery needed would keep all her eyesight intact.
  • Rebecca Cooke requests prayer for her husband, Mark. He has had a couple medical emergencies in the past month. He has met with a neurologist and has more tests being done in the next couple of weeks to determine what is causing his issues.
  • John Pinto requests prayer for healing for Dave Rowles who is recovering from open heart surgery.
  • Bill Fencl requests prayer as he recovers from back surgery.
  • Chris Widmaier asks for prayer for her husband, Mickey, who had bypass surgery on March 1st.
GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: BURKINA FASO

"Burkina Faso has seen a sharp rise in Islamist activity since 2016. Militants linked to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS) and al-Qaida, who had been largely contained in neighboring Mali and Niger, have crossed porous borders in the north to broaden their influence in the Sahel region. Christians have been a primary target of the Islamists’ campaign since April 2019, when approximately 70 Christians were killed and five churches were attacked. More than 200 churches have reportedly closed in northern and eastern Burkina Faso because of security issues and threat of attack. Islamist activity also has increased in the southwestern part of the country, with more attacks on churches and the murder of several pastors. As many as 10,000 Christians have fled their homes as a result of violence and threats against Christians throughout the country. More than 1.7 million people in total have been displaced by the conflict, adding to an already strained economy amid political uncertainty." (via: Voice of the Martyrs)

Way to pray: Pray for stability in the region so pastors can continue to reach out and serve their churches. Pray that those forced to flee their homes will remain faithful to Christ. Pray that God will change the hearts of Islamists, converting them like the Apostle Paul.

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: COLLINS

Both George and Debbie Collins were born in Michigan. Debbie was raised as a missionary kid in the country of Bangladesh before meeting George at Cornerstone University. The Collins family first served for 10 years as missionaries in Bangladesh. Since the early 1990s, they have been serving with Live Global (formerly Global Access Partnerships or GAP), a ministry of ABWE, primarily in restricted-access nations. George consults with many North American churches regarding ways to effectively partner with our brothers and sisters in church planting and leadership training. The couple has three grown sons (Philip, David, and Benjamin). Benjamin serves as a missionary in Bangkok, Thailand.

Way to Pray: The Collins continue to find creative ways to communicate and work with national partners and are thrilled with how they have been able to adapt to shifting their methods of teaching and training to Zoom, FaceTime, and Signal rather than in-person. Pray as they continue to minister to co-laborers around the world.

OPPORTUNITY: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR--WORLD RELIEF

Loving God and loving neighbor are essential to what it means to be a Christ follower. In a time of increasing polarization in our country and around the world, Christ calls his church to be a countercultural example of restoration and reconciliation. World Relief's "Love Your Neighbor" is an event where we will hear how the Bible calls us to love our neighbor and some practical ways we can do that in 2024. Check out the link for information about this event happening on April 27th!

MISSIONARY AND PARTNER UPDATES
  • Please pray for our partners in Lebanon, Horizons International, who are dealing with instability in their country as well as caring for an influx of refugees.
  • Please pray for our missionary in Turkey who has had the door open to have gospel conversations with different people in her community. Please pray for wisdom in how she responds to people who are seeking.
  • Pray for Vicki Ingrassia (E3) who has been in the hospital with blood clots.
  • Pray the Sheppards (Liberia) as John Mark continues to work on Bible translation projects and as Sara continues to care for those in their surrounding community. Check out their most recent newsletter here.
  • Debra Blackwell (Senegal) was injured when someone hit her with a motorcycle in an attempt to snatch her purse. They have determined that she has a broken femur near her hip joint. Deb has had a successful surgery. Please pray for her recovery process now!
OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: HOMES OF HOPE

Homes of Hope began in 1998 when they discovered a need for safe, affordable and energy-efficient housing options for those in our community earning a low-to-moderate income. They provide market-value rentals at a below-market rate, offering families an opportunity to escape survival mode, catch their breath, and make steps towards economic mobility. To date, they've constructed 675 homes, and with hundreds more in the works, we continue to help remedy the affordable housing crisis in our state.

Through our congregation's generosity, the Fellowship Greenville Missional Impact Team recently provided funding for one of Homes of Hope's upcoming house builds! Our church family now has the opportunity to volunteer alongside the men of Homes of Hope's Workforce Development to construct this new home. Check out our website to volunteer!

Each volunteer will have training and oversight throughout the projects!

Build days will go until 3pm and lunch will be provided.
