PRAYER REQUESTS

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Prayer Team is actively looking for individuals who would like to minister to our congregation by meeting with those who need prayer following the Sunday services. Volunteers are on duty once a month for one service.  At this time, we particularly have a need for the following weeks/services: 1st Sunday/2nd Service, and 3rd Sunday/2nd Service.  If you are interested in serving with the Prayer Team, please contact Rebecca Cooke at 864-385-3368 or rcooke@fellowshipgreenville.org.

GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: NIGER

"Armed terrorists, often connected to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS), have ravaged parts of Niger, particularly in the west near its borders with Mali and Burkina Faso. Much of the country’s small Christian population has been displaced in the violence: “Many have seen their parents or family members shot and killed,” a front-line worker said. Additionally, after Niger’s president was overthrown by military officers in a July 2023 coup, the Islamic Council of Niger has been pushing to change the country from a secular democracy into an Islamic republic governed by sharia law." Way to pray: The front-line worker asks that people pray for Nigerien Christians to experience God’s protection during this turbulent time.

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: ALVAREZ

Jose Alvarez trusted Jesus as a college senior at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He was baptized by his future father-in-law in 1980, whose daughter, Michelle, he married in 1981.

Married for over 40 years, Michelle and Jose have 3 adult children (two are married) and 2 granddaughters Lucy & Coco, and 2 grandsons Shepherd & Arnie. They speak together in marriage conferences around the country for over 25 years and also provide marital and premarital counseling in the Upstate. Since 1988 they’ve lived in Greenville, South Carolina.

Jose has been on several mission trips to Korea and Cuba using his past baseball experience to introduce people to Jesus. He came on staff with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and served as a Life Coach and mentor to the PGA’s Korn Ferry Tour Players, wives, and caddies for 15 years. He was asked to pray about coming on staff with Links Players International in May 2022. After several months Jose & Michelle answered the call and began serving with Links on September 1, 2022. Currently, he is reaching those in country clubs in the Upstate of South Carolina.

Way to Pray: Please pray for Jose and Michelle's kids and grandkids with the different paths that they are on. Jose is busy building community at Greenville Country Club, Thornblade, and Legacy Pines. Pray as he builds these relationships that the men Jose interacts with will come to know Jesus personally.

OPPORTUNITY: DSS MEAL TRAIN

There is an overwhelming number of teenagers coming into foster care in Greenville County. As a result, several of them are sitting in the DSS office each day while placement is being sought for them. DSS would like to provide healthy meals for these children.

This will be a great way for the Church to show that we love and care for these children who are in the midst of a difficult time.

You can visit the meal train HERE to learn more details and sign up to provide a meal.

OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: FAMILIES COUNT

Miracle Hill has asked Fellowship Greenville to partner with them in offering Families Count (faith-based) parenting classes. These are classes that have been approved by DSS and the court system for parents who have lost custody of their children. Often, taking parenting classes is a requirement of the court for parents to regain custody of their children.

We have 3 important ways volunteers can help make these classes happen:

  • By mentoring one of the parents enrolled in the class
  • By making and delivering a meal for 12-15 people to one of the classes
  • By transporting enrolled parents who need transportation--If you could mentor and transport, that would be ideal.

The dates of the class are as follows: April 9, April 16, April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14, May 21. If you're interested in volunteering, check out our website!

*There is a slight possibility that some of these dates may change.
