PRAYER REQUESTS

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Psalm 46:1

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Prayer Team is actively looking for individuals who would like to minister to our congregation by meeting with those who need prayer following the Sunday services. Volunteers are on duty once a month for one service.  At this time, we particularly have a need for the following weeks/services: 1st Sunday/2nd Service, and 3rd Sunday/2nd Service.  If you are interested in serving with the Prayer Team, please contact Rebecca Cooke at 864-385-3368 or rcooke@fellowshipgreenville.org.

  • Please pray for the family of Bob Deane. His brother passed away. Funeral plans TBA.
  • Steve Methvin desires prayer that the Lord would bless their family with children.
  • Lance Davis requests prayer that his children would rely on God and his teaching as they navigate a worldly middle school.
  • Russell Engelhardt asks for prayer that he would have patience, strength, and wisdom as he navigates the loss of a loved one.
  • Dianne Comerford asks for prayer for her husband who has been ill for 12 years.  She says is he is 87 and works every day to keep going.  He is in pain and gives his all to try to stay somewhat active. Her heart breaks for him.
  • Mary Leigh Cranston request prayer for her brother whose cancer has returned and for her husband who is waiting for a diagnosis of an illness.
  • James Bishop asks for prayer for his daughter, Chloe, who is going through emotional trauma and depression.  Pray that she will find peace in knowing Jesus and the power of His grace, love, and mercy.
  • Kimberly Thomas requests prayer for her mother whose health is declining. Pray that the family would demonstrate their love for her and meet her needs as God desires.
GLOBAL NEWS OPPORTUNITY TO PRAY: AFGHANISTAN

"Open Doors consistently ranks Afghanistan on its World Watch List of countries where it’s most difficult to follow Jesus. According to the CIA World Factbook, 99.7% of Afghans are Muslims, with a majority adhering to the Sunni tenet.

Various political and social factors contribute to the nation’s hostility toward Christianity. The small percentage of believers living within its borders must hide their faith, often even from family, as discovery could lead to grave consequences including death.

Members of the underground church gather discreetly, and frequently change their meeting locations and times to minimize risk. Some would go as far to download an electronic Bible on their phones right before each meeting, only to delete it once it’s over.

The Hazara minority in Afghanistan, an overwhelmingly Shia Muslim community disfavored by the nation’s Sunni Muslim majority population. Most Hazaras live in Hazarajat, a mountainous area in central Afghanistan. For decades, they have experienced systemic oppression and discrimination for their ethnicity and religion. Learn more about the Hazara here.  (via: Trans World Radio)

Way to pray: Pray for the Hazara and other Afghans that they might come to know God. Pray for those who are Believers to remain strong in their faith.

MISSIONARY HIGHLIGHT: ALVAREZ

Jose Alvarez trusted Jesus as a college senior at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. He was baptized by his future father-in-law in 1980, whose daughter, Michelle, he married in 1981.

Married for over 40 years, Michelle and Jose have 3 adult children (two are married) and 2 granddaughters Lucy & Coco, and 2 grandsons Shepherd & Arnie. They speak together in marriage conferences around the country for over 25 years and also provide marital and premarital counseling in the Upstate. Since 1988 they’ve lived in Greenville, South Carolina.

Jose has been on several mission trips to Korea and Cuba using his past baseball experience to introduce people to Jesus. He came on staff with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and served as a Life Coach and mentor to the PGA’s Korn Ferry Tour Players, wives, and caddies for 15 years. He was asked to pray about coming on staff with Links Players International in May 2022. After several months Jose & Michelle answered the call and began serving with Links on September 1, 2022. Currently, he is reaching those in country clubs in the Upstate of South Carolina.

Way to Pray: Please pray for Jose and Michelle's kids and grandkids with the different paths that they are on. Jose is busy building community at Greenville Country Club, Thornblade, and Legacy Pines. Pray as he builds these relationships that the men Jose interacts with will come to know Jesus personally.

OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE: FAMILIES COUNT

Miracle Hill has asked Fellowship Greenville to partner with them in offering Families Count (faith-based) parenting classes. These are classes that have been approved by DSS and the court system for parents who have lost custody of their children. Often, taking parenting classes is a requirement of the court for parents to regain custody of their children.

We have 3 important ways volunteers can help make these classes happen:

  • By mentoring one of the parents enrolled in the class
  • By making and delivering a meal for 12-15 people to one of the classes
  • By transporting enrolled parents who need transportation--If you could mentor and transport, that would be ideal.

The dates of the class are as follows: April 9, April 16, April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14, May 21. If you're interested in volunteering, check out our website!

*There is a slight possibility that some of these dates may change.
